-    it is intended to be a high level program with excellent coaching.
-    Coaches: Molly Carapiet, Molly O’Brian, Forrest Gay, Maggie Lumkes, Andrew
-    The 420 calendar works around the Varsity High School calendar as much as possible,, so that sailors can race on both teams.
•    NEW - 420 winter events have been developed in the Bay area.
•    Local practices will both weekday (during daylight savings) and weekend.
•    Occasional clinics with high level technical coaches will be organized for a separate fee.
•    CA regattas: 4 winter series regattas, St.FYC regattas, some Richmond Mid-winter regattas, plus Perry Series regattas in So Cal.  The Perry series currently offer the highest level of 420 competition in the US.
•    Outside CA: participation in Orange Bowl International Regatta and 420 Mid-Winters in Florida are highly encouraged.  Efforts to secure CISA funding & coaching will be made.
•    In the summer, participation in 420 Nationals, US Sailing’s Ida Lewis Women’s Double-handed Championship and 420 North Americans is encouraged. These events are generally held outside of California. If a 3 boat minimum is available for one of these events, SFYC will offer coaching and logistical support.
•    In the Summer the BAYS are a series of local regattas.  When they overlap with our Spring and Fall program we support them with coaching.  In the Summer coaching may be available with a 3 boat minimum at a $50/day cost.  One of the BAYS regattas is a Qualifier for the Beamis Championship. SFYC will provide coaching and support for this event at a daily rate regardless of the 3 boat minimum.

Practice
•    Skippers and crews will rotate, especially at the beginning so everyone can learn both tasks.
•    Gear: regulation PDF’s must be worn.  Trapeze harnesses with Quick release feature must me worn by the crew.  The quick release is a new requirement, so please check that you are ordering a harness with this feature.  Most kids find a spreader bar makes the harness more comfortable.
