2020 Vision: Looking Forward to the Future of The SFYC
It is an honor to be selected as the Commodore of the San Francisco Yacht Club in 2020. My tenure officially kicked off at the Club's Annual Meeting on December 7, 2019 where I was given the opportunity to provide my vision for 2020. We have an exceptional Club and have wrapped up an exciting and successful 150th year. In our 151st year, I am embracing "a look ahead", always celebrating and never forgetting our remarkable history, but with emphasis on the future and long-range planning. To the next 150 years.
A bit about me: I was born in San Francisco and grew up in Greenbrae. I attended Redwood High School where I developed interests in sailing and skiing. I still love both sports. I became a member of our Club in 1978. I have done a great deal of sailing in my 40+ years of membership and have sailed with many of the best. It is remarkable how many world-class sailors come from The SFYC. I have also served on the Board of Directors and on many committees at The Club, experience I believe has helped prepare me for this responsibility as commodore.
San Francisco Yacht Club is blessed to have a committed group of member-volunteers
and talented staff, all of whom I will get to work with in 2020. Our club is a special place, enjoyed by generations of members from around the world. As we look forward to the next 150 years, we are proud to be well positioned for another sesquicentennial on the Bay and beyond!
