The San Francisco Yacht Club has a long tradition of sailing and racing excellence dating back over 150 years. Members of The SFYC have won Olympic medals and raced in all corners of the globe. Wide recognition of The Club's race management capabilities have enabled the Yacht Club to attract significant national and international championship regattas. The Race Program is supported by dedicated SFYC Members and members of the broader sailing community who volunteer more than 4,800 hours each year, enabling sailors from all over the world to sail in the world-renowned San Francisco Bay breeze and visit beautiful Marin County.

Tell us your Regatta Results!

If you’re sailing under the SFYC burgee, we want to know about it. Every Sunday, we look for regatta results from members competing near and far to be included in the Bow Wave.

Here’s how to participate:
1. Send your regatta results (100 words or less) to or by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. If your report is longer, we reserve the right the edit it. If you didn’t register under SFYC, we unfortunately can’t report on your result.
2. Send 2-3 photos that are high res and at least 50KB apiece. If your photos are smaller, we won’t be able to publish them.
3. Include a link to results
4. Look for your results in the Bow Wave!

      International Knarr Championship
On September 6-14, 2019 the Knarr fleets of the USA, Denmark and Norway will come together at The San Francisco Yacht Club to enter its 6th decade of international Corinthian competition and friendship. The event rotates annually between the three countries, and every other visit to San Francisco is hosted by SFYC.

While the San Francisco fleet was originally formed in 1960, the event, known as the IKC, was the vision of the San Francisco Bay fleet founder, Knud Wibroe (USA 120), to bring the USA fleet together with our European counterparts in Norway and Denmark for an annual international competition. In 1968 the IKC was born and the first competition was held here on San Francisco Bay and a long tradition of high-level competition coupled together with unique sense of camaraderie was born. Local sailing journalist, Kimball Livingston once wrote, “If this fleet could bottle and sell the secret sauce that draws and inspires its people, every fleet everywhere would pony up to buy some”. The IKCs are meant to be a special experience for not only the competitors, but to all involved. We welcome Club members to share in the experience.
